Subscription-based app monetization has proven itself across industries, in everything from fitness apps to dating services and social networks. According to data from data.io, in 2022 a full half of Snapchat’s in-app revenue was attributable to yearly subscriptions.
At AppMetrica, we’ve now opened up a beta version of our new In-App subscription tracking. This new tool makes it possible for you to track key metrics in the Revenue report, assess the rate at which subscriptions are renewed in the cohort analysis, and build funnels for different conversions — for example, from app downloads to subscription purchases.
Until recently, it wasn’t possible to track subscription data in AppMetrica. Due to the particular way our service works, this data was collected by tracking one-time purchases. This led to incorrect, duplicated data being displayed in the statistics.
Starting on June 15, all subscription events will be recorded in AppMetrica, but only if In-App subscription tracking is enabled. If tracking isn’t enabled, subscription purchase events won’t be automatically collected. Meanwhile, automatic collection of in-app purchases will continue to work: data on one-time purchases will still be collected.

The tool will continue to be free for any organizations* that earn $10,000 or less per month from subscriptions across all their apps.
* An organization is any owner of one or more AppMetrica tags. In May 2023, personal accounts for organizations will become available in AppMetrica. In the personal account, users can track their current event limits, configure access, enter bank details, and enable expanded plans and options. You can learn more in our documentation.
